The Open Directory Project web directory is a volunteer
edited directory that charges webmasters no fee
to have their website reviewed and listed online.
Open Directory Project is one of the largest, most
comprehensive directories online. The conditions
of being listed are mostly more enforced than many
paid directories, but Dmoz is volunteer edited,
which leaves it open to abuses. Being listed on
the ODP can also take a very long time, which prompts
many webmasters to volunteer and add their own website
(becoming an editor can also be a challenge).
